letterpress lately,

UD students are very lucky to have the Raven Press, a working letterpress with tons of type to work with. I am a monitor on Wednesdays and realize I want to put in some good time here before I graduate. Here are my endeavors as of late:

"Hello!" postcards. A collaboration with Justin Weber. We gave them to friends and Young Gun artists we loved in NYC a few weekends ago.

The beginnings of a new logo for StuArt - UD's student art organization.

Vintage Now - a new project celebrating the rebirth of the 1900's rich eras of fashion, design, and culture.

peacock forest.

A custom made illustration for a friend Michelle. She will be giving this as a birthday present to a friend tonight. Her friend loves trees, flowers, and purple, and from there I just filled in the rest. I am always open for small freelance and it's fun to turn over a quick finished piece.

countdown to russia.

I have this unexplained interest in russia. I am in love with Russian textiles, dolls, and the idea of their wintry fashion. I must go!!! I found these great photos on a mom's creative blog http://diaperstylememoirs.blogspot.com/
this little character is cheburashka! or that's the name of the show. I don't know enough about it yet.

golden old chair.

this was my friday goodwill find, this crazy & pretty chair! I wasn't expecting to find it but it was an opportunity I couldn't pass up. I was drawn to its unique color, shape, and pattern. It is made by J.B. Van Sciver a Dutch-American man who started a furniture store in Delaware in 1881. The company flourished in the late 1800s early 1900s. I am not sure how old my piece is or how much it would be worth, but Goodwill $40 is definitely a good deal, and it doesn't matter much to me because I just think it's so fun!

little details.

life is continuting at anthro on mondays & thursdays. it is so much fun. there is so much opportunity to be creative and there is a drive to produce and make things happen because of the display deadlines. lately i have doing a lot of signage around the store and tag making.... i will work on getting pictures of that stuff soon.

a little lady i put on our bulletin board in the art room.
an extra piece of a display i made into a kite-man.

making labels for our "field-house" leaves display. these are the test labels.

the chosen and created leaf label design.

i also built paper and thread eggs to put in our bird nests. they are crumpled wax paper covered in thread and painted.
