Painting II: Final Project

In the craziness of the semester ending I did not find much time to post... anyway, in conclusion of my interest in figure painting I decided the full out figure was too much to handle for the last project, however I still used my original inspirations to inspire what I did. This semester I have learned to love the materials of paint and the ways you can experiment with the medium on the canvas, I began my painting by pushing the paint around, letting it drip, splattering it across the surface, and pushing a paper towel around for texture. When this stage was complete I looked at the composition on the canvas and from the feel and my experience with it I created a fashion design from it. I then transferred the sketch back on to the canvas and painted it in. I realize I also began to pull from being amazed by this peacock I had seen at Wild Safari with my class. So this is "Aura" and my final project from painting class.

To further my interest in experimental painting and sewing I also took leftover canvas edges from a previous painting and used them to create a wearable piece. I used paint to create a pattern on the canvas. When it dried I took it to the sewing machine and began sewing random lines into the fabric. I would constantly pause hold it up fold it around and mess with it until I had discovered an arrangement that worked. I secured this and created this headpiece. It was a really fun process and I plan on doing it again.
