ATP here I come!
This weekend is looking verrry promising. Tomorrow I will be heading up to Brooklyn and meeting up with one of my darling ladies Corrie. We will be hanging out with her friends and sleeping at her sister's apartment. On Saturday morning we depart for the ATP Music Festival at Kutsher's Country Club in Monticello NY! There are so many amazing bands coming! It's almost disappointing that we can only afford one day of it, but then I remember I am seeing Sufjan Stevens, Animal Collective, Atlas Sound and others and then it's okay. Really not sure what to wear yet! Favorite people and favorite music? Win, win for sure.

direction in painting III.
My dedication to taking my paintings has finally landed me in Advanced Painting. The class is taught by Lance Winn and I have been waiting all of my years to have him for a class. I also finally have a studio in Taylor, one of the art department buildings on campus. I share with Justin and Sammi, it's going to be a great time. What I like best of all is that this is a self-directed class. No more forced assignments or dimensions. We will be writing a paper proposing our ideas, direction, and goals as to how much we project to finish. I'm gathering my ideas at the moment. They are a bit scattered - at least too much for me to investigate this semester. But I am sure I will end up doing some things in between naturefacts, fashion, and other found objects...

a calming palette.
This is what I wore on a recent double date. Let's talk about how high waisted skirts are the most wonderful article of apparel in my life right now.

new approaches.
I feel like I am taking a completely different approach to lifestyle this year. Much has changed since my entering the semester last fall. I feel like I have new passions, new people surrounding me and supporting me, and a new perspective towards many things. It has been pretty crazy to see just how much that effects everything I do. I feel much more stable and confident this year. I feel like I am ready to take action on my ideas and start putting who I am out to the world in a more consistent way. This causes me to desire a more disciplined life, more attention to organization school-wise, more cleanliness about my room, and a healthier life style overall. As far as interior design of my space I feel like I have taken a 180. Last year my walls were bombarded with magazine pages, stickers, drawings, and other sorts of imagery. I wanted I really stimulating, vibrant, and exciting space. This year I am desiring much more of a simple and calming aesthetic. One wall holds a huge blue, green, and yellow painted cloud panel. The only other thing on the walls right now is a little "installation" showing my love for sunglasses. My hotpink, orange, and lime green bed comforter was left home replaced by a brown gray and white patterned afghan that I have grown up with. I have a real live plant living here too given to me by Amy Weber. Now I wouldn't be myself if there wasn't brightness and childlike objects sprinkled around so I have a galactic pink mirror and my little japanese toys and other friends are scattered across my desk. Overall I am going for a much more peaceful environment that can encourage a healthier life style. so far, so good. Time will tell.

kay's kamp.
Kay's Kamp was a great time of serving and fun. The kids were delightful and really inspiring. It was a place where cancer did not limit anyone and even counselors and adults were encouraged to let loose and return to their much missed childhood roots. We did crafts, fishing, archery, karaoke, looked through a telescope, and made s'mores. It was a really good way to spend the last week of summer: outdoors, no cell phone, catching up with some of my high school friends, and helping make Kay's dream come true. I miss you girl.
